Longchamp Collaborates With Artist André Saraiva

It’s no secret that Longchamp’s Le Pliage is known worldwide, and for good reason. The instantly recognizable tote (now available in a myriad of sizes and colors) is one of the most functional bags out there. It’s the perfect grab-and-go bag that everyone’s closet needs, and when you think Longchamp, it’s only natural to immediately think about the Maison’s most iconic staple, its nylon Le Pliage.

The Le Pliage has been reinvented year after year and season after season, both in new sizes, colors and materials as well as in fun patterns and prints. Now, just in time for spring and summer, the Maison introduces its most fun Le Pliage to date, in collaboration with graphic artist André Saraiva.

Who is André Saraiva?

André Saraiva is a graffiti artist whose work is recognizable by its big funny round face with a larger-than-life smile and a playful wink that’s lovingly known as Mr. A. Saraiva’s work has been around for more than 30 years, and since Mr. A’s creation, the playful character has been spotted worldwide.

More than just an artist, Saraiva is also a successful face in the hospitality industry, taking the fun energy and positivity that oozes from his work and bringing it to life in hotels and nightclubs. Along the way, he has reinvented nightlife culture, positively changing it for the better in cities like Paris, New York, and Tokyo. He has collaborated with a slew of brands, most notably Louis Vuitton, Off-White, and Chanel.

André Saraiva hand-customizes the Le Pliage

Longchamp x André Saraiva

His latest collaboration marries two icons, The Le Pliage and Mr. A., creating a collection that is full of life, optimism, and joy. The partnership was brought together by André Saraiva and Sophie Delafontaine, artistic director at Longchamp, who share a love for the city of Paris. And with just a few strokes of his pen, Saraiva reinvented four different versions of Longchamp’s staple, the Le Pliage.

The Le Pliage makes for the perfect blank canvas, and this time, the pieces have a sustainable twist too, crafted from recycled nylon. The collection also includes a limited-edition collection of 200 hand-customized small Le Pliage bags in recycled canvas. Each one is unique, an original piece of artwork that can be carried around every day. Prices range from $80 for a pouch to $290 for a travel Le Pliage. The collaboration will be available from April 26th on, and you can discover more now via Longchamp.
