Boulder, Colorado-based BAD Equipment have announced its first product on Kickstarter — The BAD Wrap. The BAD Wrap is a flexible and waterproof cover (or wrap) for your gear that can be form-fitted into a variety of configurations to provide protection for anything you can place in it.
The company says the BAD Wrap has been designed by a team of experienced photographers, designers, and engineers to bring innovative tech accessories to reality. The team plans to focus on designing new products for the photography and technology space, starting with this new wrap.
Built using an internal “freeze frame” and covered with padded and waterproof materials, the BAD Wrap allows users to change the shape of the flexible cover to fit their equipment and hold gear in place without the need for any straps, bands, clips, or fasteners. Besides offering an easy-to-use customized gear protector, the company says it can even be used as a base/stand for some devices like tablets and smartphones.
The wrap will be available in three sizes (small, medium, and large) which are compatible with a wide range of lenses and cameras. According to the company, the small size is best used for small products like glasses, small lenses, action cameras, and other smaller peripheral devices. The medium will work for tablets, camera bodies, compact drones like the DJI Mavic Mini, and other similar-sized items. Lastly, the large version will reportedly accommodate most laptops, tripods, and full camera rigs.
At the time of publication, the BAD Equipment Kickstarter has only achieved about 20 percent of its $48,500 goal, so the company still has quite a ways to go to hit its funding goal. Should it meet that goal, the company plans to start delivering finished BAD Wraps by December of 2021. Backers can order the small wrap for $18 US (it will eventually retail for $25), the medium-sized BAD Wrap for $28 (which will eventually cost $40), and the large size wrap for $48 (it will retail for $65 after the Kickstarter concludes).
