Four-Day Outdoor Black Bear Ranch Wedding

The days of cookie-cutter weddings are long gone, and we’re seeing more and more couples break free from traditional wedding planning expectations. Cash and Izaac are no exception. During their planning process, they had one goal in mind: create a day that fully aligns with who they are as a couple. And with the help of their talented team of vendors, they nailed every detail–from the boho outdoor ceremony to the reception under the stars.

They kicked off their day with sweet “I do’s” in a nearby meadow, surrounded by nature and their loved ones. To spice up the already stunning space, Bloom Theory Studio used spring florals to create an asymmetrical ceremony backdrop that beautifully framed the distant mountain views. While these touching moments sound hard to top, their Black Bear Ranch reception might just do it. Guests were greeted by long banquet-style tables dressed in neutral decor, a cocktail cart, and “Love is a human right” signage—just to name a few of our favorites.

From the grooms’ fashion-forward attire to the incredible four-day itinerary, photographer Emily Klarer captured all the inspo-rich details that’ll influence couples to start planning with a purpose.

Kicking Off Their Black Bear Ranch Wedding With A Lake Day

Our wedding was four days of pure perfection, and almost everything was what we had hoped for. In lieu of a rehearsal dinner, we opted for a day at one of Izaac’s favorite places, Redfish Lake—a crystal clear lake high up in the Sawtooth Mountains. We rented school buses to transport guests to the lake for a day of paddle boarding, lawn games on the beach, Aperol spritzes, and an amazing lunch.

A Reception Dinner Much Like The Ones They Enjoy At Home In New York

When planning the wedding, we decided to forgo many traditions that didn’t resonate with us, including our wedding day timeline. We love hosting dinner parties at our apartment in Brooklyn, so we wanted to model our special day to feel like a larger version of one of the intimate dinners we host with friends. Because of this, we were most excited about planning the welcome dinner, lake day, and reception.

Sometimes Friends Make The Perfect Officiants

We asked Cash’s best friend, Katie, to officiate, and she took on the task of secretly making the ceremony the most memorable part of the day. To compose a personalized ceremony, she reached out to our closest friends and family members asking them what made us so special as a couple. Surrounded by our favorite people, Katie used her superior wordsmithing to bring us all to tears as she described how we found each other and built our life together, and recited quotes she had received from our friends and families.

Advice: Book Your Vendors Early To Save Money

Start early and book your vendors as soon as possible, especially if you’re getting married in a rural or remote destination where there is a limited number of local vendors. Almost all of our vendors and rentals came from 2+ hours away, and in some instances, we had to piece together rental orders from multiple companies to get the quantities we needed. The additional fees for long-distance delivery and the cost of lodging for the vendors who had come in from out of town added significant expenses that we had not planned for.

Congratulations to Cash and Izaac on their Black Bear Ranch wedding. And a big shout out to photographer Emily Klarer for preserving these sweet moments that’ll serve as inspiration for couples that can’t pack all their wedding activities into one day.
