3 year old female Pointer cross Labrador available for adoption

Poppy is a 3 year old female Pointer cross Labrador. She was rescued in Cyprus and flew to the UK recently. She is looking for a new home as she is not getting along with the cat in her current home. Here is a little about her: Poppy is a gorgeous girl who weighs around 24kg. She’s very calm 90% of the time but does get excitable and have a zoomies session especially in the morning when you first come down to see her.

When she gets in these playful moods she rolls on her back and will gently mouth you but when you want her to stop, she will. She’s extremely loving towards people and loves a cuddle. Her favourite pastime at the moment is chasing flies and it is funny to watch. Also, when she gets overly hot, she paddles/splashes her feet in her water bowl throwing it everywhere. Like a kid in a puddle. She loves tennis balls, will run after them, then run around the garden with it.

Poppy walks well on her lead once the initial excitement of her walk is over. She is wary of larger vehicles and loud noises on walks and will cower a little. So, she will need some ongoing support to continue to build her confidence and keep her safe. She can be a little possessive over food and treats which is not unusual for a rescue dog. As a result, we would prefer her new home to be adults only or where any children are older teens and dog savvy. She absolutely adores the company of people but has not had any exposure to living with children.

She is always happy to see and meet dogs on walks, but can sometimes depending on the other dog, react to them. She might be happy to share her new home with another dog as she enjoys the company of other dogs. Possibly a male would be the best fit. She would not want to share her new home with a cat. She is house trained and sleeps well through the night. She has shown no signs of separation anxiety when left for a couple of hours at a time. She travels well in the car.

Poppy is really hoping for a fun, active home. She loves her walks with someone who has time for her as she’s so great with people and wants to be with you. Poppy has only been in the UK for a few weeks and is showing potential as a fabulous pet and needs a little more guidance and support to help her get there. She will need work on recall training, resource guarding when she has chews and treats (she has probably never had such amazing treats in her life before so is keen to keep them safe).

Poppy would like a secure garden in her new home where she can run and play safely. We have no doubt she will make her new family very happy as she is such a loving and happy girl.

Minimum adoption donation of £375 applies.

ADOPTION IS SUBJECT TO A SATISFACTORY APPLICATION AND HOME CHECK.

Post adoption support is available from our charity.

Her Rescue must be informed at any time of a change in circumstances and our dog returned to one of our volunteers where required. Poppy must never be handed over to any UK Rescue or sold or adopted on without our knowledge. We always accept the return of our dogs and will endeavour to rehome them accordingly.
