3 year old female Cross-Breed available for adoption

Nola is a three year old small to medium female Cross-Breed. She arrived from a shelter in Romania in the summer of 2020 and after 8 months being in foster care she was adopted in February of this year. Unfortunately though she did not bond with the resident dog and without this vital need for her confidence she couldn’t settle and her adopters felt that although they loved her theirs wasn’t the right home for her needs. Nola was initially completely terrified of everything and everyone but has come a long way with her foster families.

Nola LOVES her foster brothers and sister and generally adores other dogs, her favourite time of day is walkies where she can go out and run around with them! She has good recall and always stays close to her foster mum but due to her still being nervous of people she keeps a long line attached. She is nervous of humans although she will sit with her foster family on the sofa and be stroked…her foster mummy feels it is now time for a loving, patient owner to continue to show her that human interaction is enjoyable and not scary!

Nola is such a sweet, lovable character and her foster family are so proud of the happy, playful young dog she is becoming…she just needs patience, time, love and lots of treats to get to the final step! Any potential adopter needs to be prepared to give Nola a LOT of time to trust again at her own pace…her foster family adore this sweet girl, despite her not being a cuddly dog she makes up for this in the pure joy, confidence and playfulness she emanates when out on walks. She does now occasionally come up for a fuss (and actually enjoys it!) but this has taken months of work and patience to achieve – one can only imagine the trauma she has been through in her past to make her so mistrustful of humans…even when she likes them!

Nola lives happily with cats and although she has lived with children we feel she would benefit from an adult only household (2 people max) due to her nervousness. She needs lots of exercise, walks make her so happy so an active household would be perfect.

Her foster mummy feels that for Nola to carry on making progress in a new home she must be homed with at least 2 other confident dogs…their company is what makes her feel safe and she learns so much from them, she loves playing with them too so at least one playmate would be perfect. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.

Please note that it is Safe Rescue policy that all dogs adopted from us must wear a slip lead to be walked for the duration of their lives. Too many dogs are lost from slipping out of collars and harnesses and many of our dogs are timid due to past ill treatment and likely to panic whilst out and about. It is absolutely okay to use these things additionally to slip leads but not instead of. We also request that extendable retractable leads are never used on our dogs. If you are opposed to slip leads, please do not enquire about our dogs as this is not negotiable. Thank you for understanding. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
